Today I.....

Beautiful pics Boxy, it's a lovely area around there. I'm thinking River Severn where i fished the golf course section once near the iron bridge.

Cheers Mark.. that’s the area this was taken in so you’d know it well !

Tonight I ...... Found the original sales invoice for this TDI, it was a couple of pounds short of £25,000 and that was 17 years ago!!!

Just because curiosity got the better of me, look what the equivalent price would have been today

This was June 2002 bought in NL with VAT and conversion to £s comes out at £16200

Either buying from the NL was very cheap, or that is one list of expensive extras on top of leather, OSS, sports and heated. Using Steves calculator £25k

Sometime ago I posted a pricing exercise I did of a base 1.4 TDi + all the possible options:

Optional Extras with prices for 1.4 TDi model.jpg

All the options double the base price from £13,095 to £26,241.

Today I fitted my Bluetooth handsfree adapter to my Symphony head unit, I was most grateful to hear my little Webasto humming away when I started the car ?

....dropped off my car at a local garage I trust to do a stuck slide bolt and change the thermostat and temperature sender. Sometimes you've got to admit that it's too cold to work on your own car :)

Added plus though is that I finished my auto headlight. Really pleased with it.

Would like to get one of those, do you know if there are any available?

I got mine from Steve B but I'm sure they will still be available on eBay. It doesn't come as a complete unit, it's just the central switch. You then have to dremel out your old surround so it will fit and the chrome ring is a separate purchase too.

Worth the effort though.

... well actually "Today Anna..." borrowed Baby Boomer as Project X was refusing to start. Upon getting to work she called me to say she had done so and said "I really like your car, we need to talk ..." Ooooeeerr - sounds like a take over plan is forming in her mind

It is worth pointing out that you don’t HAVE Z To Dremel out the hole if you want an easy fit. Yes reshaping the hole with improve the looks a lot, but the unit can fit in an unmodified headlight switch fascia and if you do that it takes roughly 15 minutes to install and it works out of the box.

Looks like the prices have doubled, and they look slightly different, but with the same connections

This one LOOKS like it could be the one to buy but at double the price I was selling them at.

By the way, avoid the ones with a separate control box (the ones I tried like that buzzed the "Lights on" warning when you opened the door) So go for the one that is self contained.

Today I ......... (well today and yesterday anyway) I was visited by the amazing Timmus !!!!
Tom worked his majic, an early start and late finish yesterday outside in the car park in freezing conditions.

He yet again displayed his "OCD" approach to his work and his deep technical knowledge is a huge bonus and a time-saver.

He also installed the Depronman remap and after having several A2s remapped in the past, all on a rolling road I was not too sure if I would find it slightly less of a change.

I was wrong, the difference was every bit as noticeable as any remap that I have had on an A2 and at a fraction of the cost.
If you are thinking of having one on your TDI, all In can say is that I am not disappointed in the elast and iot was every bit as good as a rolling road remap.

Thank you Tom and thank you Paul (Depronman)

Worth noting mine is a single unit (no additional box) yet sounds the lights on buzzer when I exit or enter in the dark - not really an issue. I'll link to it later as I'm certain it is cheaper. $36 delivered from aliexpress...

Today I... Make the drive home to the Midlands from Edinburgh, through lots of snow and my A2 never skipped a beat over 700miles covered the last few days! I must get around to fitting the heated washer jets though! Tried to keep an eye out for A2's on the road while away, never saw one till we were under a mile from home!

Needs a damn good wash now though!
