Today I.....

Today I ..... or more specifically Today wee Ada passed the MOT with no advisories . Always satisfying even if its less than 1000 miles since the last one. A service as well before the journey south to the Yorkshire social and Spike's last journey. A wee bittersweet taste.

Managed to change all the turbo pipes on my atl to silicone, bar the final inlet asv clipped\seal pipe. Very tricky to clamp the first turbo pipe to the turbo itself, whilst led under the car on stones, with a German shepherd licking

you! With samco silicon vacuum hoses a new turbo new intercooler, surely I can rest easy for another 15 years??!! The power delivery is much smoother, it had a few stammers during the boost under accerlation and the pipes were covered in dripping oil. You can see the bodged split pipe.

Amazed how much wiring there is up there!! Is that a USB cable? Enjoying the posts, you should do a thread on this renovation though to stand test of time abs be searchable

Today I started changing the head gasket on my tdi 90. Bolts on the hot side of turbo for exhaust seem seized, any tips! I'm tempted to just raise it a inch to removed the old gasket and use the flexibility of the exhaust flexi to allow me to raise it a inch for removal and cleaning.

Thanks for the link, I'd had a good think after reading them earlier. My car is due for its dmf next month and mot etc. I plan on getting the garage to remove the bolts and I've got some stainless ones to replace with. Hopefully he'll have enough access with the gearbox removed to get a long socket over them

It's for the rear view camera. At the front there are 3 cables: power, SatNav antenna and rear camera. Will have to try to make them neat.

Re the wiring. I was surprise there was so little! A video I watched about taking out the headlining on an A4 (or was it an A6) had about 6 or 7 cables going the front ceiling lighting panel. The A2 has 2 (lights & ultrasound detector)

Hi guys, could someone eBay link, which socket do I need to remove the gearbox oil drain and fill plugs?
I've read it's size 17 for petrol and diesel as well. Many thanks

Hi

I bought one of these 17mm hex bits for a 1.4 AUA. Same size for drain and top up although I refilled via the reverse light switch as it is more accessible on the AUA

I have no experience with diesels so hopefully someone else will confirm

Yes it's for 1.4 petrol and thanks, that's great.
The threads on the bolts don't looks hexagon shape but rather lots of thin lines, but I guess the hex ends should line up enough to undo it. Cheers

I have made another member an alloy machined end that clips into the ASV as per the original pipe and as a stub end like the AMF to take the silicon pipe
PM me if your interested
