Chat What are your A2 plans for 2018?

Now that I've replaced the DMF, I'm thinking of taking my TDi90 to Awesome to have it chipped. Not looking for max power, just driveability and responsiveness, and a bit more at the top end would do me nicely. Might also replace the front discs, which have been warped slightly since not long after they were fitted, with something from Tarox, or anybody else you chaps might care to recommend. I'm after retaining the good pedal feel, getting rid of the slight pulsing in the pedal due to the warp, and retaining decent life on standard pads.

The shocks are all still original, so while the above is enough for this year, perhaps I'll look at replacing them next year with something a bit more pliant but still retaining the tidy handling of the Sport suspension I currently, er, enjoy (not so bad since I started to run 205/45s).

You could have a chat with Paul (deproman) or Tom (timmus) about their bargain basement remap.

Ive just ordered two new Khumo 185/50/R16 tyres from Black Circles for £50 each to put on the SE wheels for summer and then a colour DIS fitting....possibly a new starter motor too. :)

My TDi:
Front discs and pads in the next few weeks along with fitting new splash guards I bought in the group buy.
Finally getting around the suspension refresh I was talking about when I joined!
Fitting the under hand brake tray I bought a while back.
I want to explore having the larger fuel tank fitted (if it's even possible)

FSi Colour Storm with OSS:
I bought quite a few parts that are needed for this already, so I'll be fitting a replacement wing mirror drivers side/Concert Stereo/False boot floor.
I also got hold of an undamaged set of seats, but I'll be purchasing a set of Sport seats with Lumbar and having them restitched with the red colour storm pattern that I have from my 4 front seats in an OEM+ sort of thing.
I am aiming to have the misfire sorted for March.

Currently I'm wondering just how much it would cost to take the colour storm and have everything fitted from my TDi to make my ultimate A2!

Hi all.
My plans are to swap all the goodies over from recently purchased bentley's A2 to my tdi 75. Then to assess how much it would cost to get it roadworthy again. Although my new purchase is a straight, hpi clear, and seems to be well looked after fsi. This model of A2 does have a worrying 'money pit' reputation.

Yes there are quite a few posts n this thread alone about wanting to fix the misfire on FSI owners.

You are not to far from me (St Annes, nr Blackpool)
I can do you a remap for £25 or I also offer a postal service of a loan ECU that is already remapped so you can 'try before you buy'
I now cover all of the A2's TDI engines, I am told by numerous members who are now running my remap that it is very close if not equal to a rolling road custom remap which costs around 10x the price.
I also offer dual maps, where by the original map is retained and the remap is also present (the ECU supports two sets of maps), you can change between remap and std map via the free version of vagcom (recode the ECU)
Drop me a PM if interested
Cheers,
Paul

My plans for the storm are to get a new clutch and possibly 6 speed box fitted. I need the small dent taking out of the roof oh and put hid s back on n it as standard bulbs are pants.
My daily driver akoya needs two smart paint repairs doing on the rear bumper and rear quarter, had a quote but not booked in yet.
Yvonnes White tdi sport has new wheels and tyres going on in the warmer weather.
I also need to fit dash cams that have sat in the box far to long. Cheers mike

Also for mine get the Audi Bluetooth module I have fitted.
Fix the rear boot lock so it opens all the time

Perhaps this will finally be the year, I restore servo assistance to my TDI's naff brakes..

Electric rear window retrofit and a nice Votex boot spoiler to compliment the skirts.

Simply to keep driving mine.

A question please: the info I have is to replace the camshaft drive belt / coolant pump every 5 years/60,000 miles. (You will see from my signature the car is a ‘54 plate / ‘55 model year TDI 90bhp ATL)

Mine was last changed Aug-2013 at 101,000 miles. In the past 4½ years I have driven approx 40,000 miles.

Who would be replacing the camshaft drive belt / coolant pump in Aug-2018 at, let’s say, 45,000 miles; and who would wait another year to get closer to 60,000 miles?

Thank you, Andrew

I would definitely not wait.

A broken belt will basically destroy your engine.
I have seen so many really nice A2s that have had their engine destroyed by a broken belt and that is a nightmare.

If you do it ASAP then it is peace of mind for 4 years more.

At around £300 for the job it ios WELL worth it.

I wouldn't even wait until August.

Strange; have the exact same ATL and checked with Audi dealership 2 weeks ago; timing belt and waterpump are due every 90000km (56000miles). No time-limitation. The present timing-belt is from 2012, and will therefor be run for another 1-2 years.

Audi dealership Norway asks for 9000NOK for replacement; thats about 850GBP.

Don't wait to find out, mine snapped two weeks ago just after I brought the car..... it was changed 15k and 2 years earlier

Timing belts deteriorate over time even if the car is not being used. You could even say that a car left unused for long periods doesn’t exactly help the belts. They are held under tension and so benefit from being used.

If I bought a car that had done a very low mileage since the last belt change but that was done 5 years ago, I would definitely change it based on time alone.

I guess we we are lucky in the Uk if that is the price you have to pay.

I have a local independent who knows Audi’s inside out and the A2 in particular. He uses quality parts but charges a very low hourly rate. But most importantly he charges for the job and not for every minute spent.

He charges me slightky less less due to the amount of work I get him to do but £350 or less for a belt change (FULL kit) makes it worth changing the belts at the right time.

I have in writing from dealership that they garantie that the timing belt will last for the stated kilometers as long as you perform the prescripted services at them (one of the check points during service is timing belt).

Thus; you pay more, but on the other hand if it snaps you know who’s problem it is. Not mine.
