Ah, but the token gives 3minutes, 20p is only 2 minutes. You get 50% extra with your disapproving comment.

Indeed, I can only surmise the money is deducted from the wage of the assistant judging by the response.

I often refer to myself as stingy, I was recently reminded that the air machine in Morrisons takes 20 pence as I asked for a token. I'm well aware it takes 20 pence though the token costs nothing more than a disapproving comment. :)
Conversely, I paid for water to top up my washers recently as I had no sensible alternative, I like to see where I'm going.

I can now see why many people in Trowbridge are campaigning for a Morrisons with a fuel station. Well, if Sainsburys takes over Asda and sells one of the stores then maybe Morrisons will buy that and we can all have free air. But if I recall from many years ago, air was free until some report slammed the garages for inaccurate readings. Result was frequent (maybe statutory) checks and hence the charging.

Out comes the sun, out comes the shine :)

Having treated the car to new number plates yesterday, today I treated all the black trim (apart from the roof) to some Autoglym Bumper Care. It's come up a treat. Time will tell how long it lasts......

I knew where to look from having seen you Saturday :) Looks very good!

Any thoughts on replacing the door rubbing strips in that colour?

Fitted the rest of the interior bits I bought with the car today - door-pillar switches, driver's side window switch, climate unit, Concert stereo. Managed to get the window switch out without taking the door card off - just. Climate unit removal was made a lot easier by the cowboy fitting of the previous aftermarket stereo, thankfully they had also used converter looms and didn't cut any of the original wiring. Also raided the old climate unit for one of the side clips that was missing off the cubby. All looks a lot neater now, and I'm sure the Concert sounds better too, I couldn't really hear any bass on the JVC thing that was in there.

Today I changed my fuel filter, and fitted a deproman fuel screw and was needed as it had broken and bodged by previous owner.

I did not start looking after this car until last August. It belongs to my significant other. The story went like this:

1. Ignorant know-it all mechanics that break more than they fix.
2. Consistent coolant leaks from all sorts of places.
3. Got tired of taking it in to the garage so kept topping up with plain water for some years. It was the most economic solution for her really because the mechanics could not fix the leaks, every time they touched it the bill was 300+ euros and they kept making it worse than it was! The amount of stuff I found broken/unplugged/bodged/cut is phenomenal.

From @67boris initial VCDS scan of 12 fault codes (all engine/emissions related) we are now down to 0.

A couple of weeks ago we visited fellow member @67boris and it must have been when the thermostat really got stuck (pieces of it got wedged in the spring). Its state was far worse than the pump. Now I am in the process of figuring out if the head gasket has gone or not.

... treated the car to a good wash and then Simoniz wax polish treatment. First time for - well, probably since we bought it more than 10 years ago. I'm afraid it'll still look a bit scruffy compared to the others at the Stanford show on Sunday.
