Today I.....

Can't you get a plastic wedge between the wheel and the hub then to either force the bolt out or lock it whilst you drill it?

Simon.

I don't think a plastic wedge would help, Simon? I had to apply some serious surgical methods here! Steel wedges from 1 to 8 mm thick :)
The gap between the rim and the hub was less than 1 mm to begin with, but after 4 hours, the gap was much larger, on the opposite side. Now I can put 2-3 mm wegde close to the bolt. Thanks to all steel pieces of crap I never removed from the garage, something my wife complained about for years :)

OK I can see what you mean and you are trying all the right things - that bolt is properly FUBARed isn't it!

Only other idea is to hold a socket with some vice grips to stop the hex turning whilst you drill the bolt head.

Simon.

It looks from your photo your nearly there with how far youv got one side a fair way off now, I did notice your wheel bolts look a good 10mm longer than the standard ones in both my A2's, so id imagine theres a good 10mm of thread that sticks out the other side when there done up and presume this is whats causing you all the trouble, A little more brute force and hopefully youl succeed and remove that pesky bolt .

Thanks Steve,

Got my whole post completely wrong. It will go up to 90 whilst stood and the fan will come in at 90, then back to 89 etc...

Whilst on a run will not go above 60 or 62 with AC off.

New thermostat has cured the problem. Also on start up this morning the webasto fired up and with heated seats toasty nice and quickly.

...put the winter wheels and tyres on. Looks odd after running the 17's but it will soon be spring.

...realised I'm probably supposed to be in Copenhagen for work when I've organised time on the ramps. ARGH!

Will be Christmas vacations soon enough, just need to see if the DIY garage is open between Christmas and New Year's.

...Stuck some fabric on the upper face of the heat shield that covers the fuel filter - hopefully that's one more rattle source nailed.

Where are you opening DIY garage, Bret?
Cheers,

A luvly pair Jeff !. Its a bit grimmer up north so not a hope in hell of any car washing :(

Same here in the midlands!

Had a go at removing the radio to access the hazard switch but my slim radio keys are not going to be slim enough so I'm going to try some translucent tape over the front of the switch first.

Simon.

... Was looking for something else, but saw these two

My favourite accessory! it just fits in the car so well, it is almost as if they designed it to be standard but then decided to remove them and class them as an optional extra.
