Today I ...got a fuel consumption figure. My car doesn't have DIS so I've been existing on belief rather than proof, I've recently bought an obd bluetooth adapter that in conjunction with my phone will give a readout of all sorts of vehicle parameters including fuel consumption. Anyway without much trying I'm getting ~66mpg average on the 18 mile trip home from work with a mix of dual carriageway and A road so well pleased with that!

Simon.

Today I spent more money, this time on a 'Major Service'.

Next spend Saturday for two rear tyres.

You will get you through that MOT and pass with flying colours.

Have you tried fuelly? See the bottom of my post.

James

Today I....drove to work in my A2 with a smile on my face very glad that I hadn't sold it.
Well done Steve, you know it makes sense.

Today I made an offer on a set of S3 wheels for my wife's A2. (In black so not copying you, much)

Can't balme you Steve, i'm trying to hold off putting the winter wheels on my car as long as possible because it looks so much better on the S3's. They are a very solid wheel, I can't see potholes being any issue for you with those.

The battery was lumbering on start so fitted a new one to the TDI. After fitting the battery the time and date was lost. On setting the time something odd (to me) happened in the DIS. At one point it had mph in a circle in yellow and the warning chime? and then it started cycling through all the warnings, red and yellow ones? What's going on?

It sounds like it just ran through the normal check, perhaps because you had the ignition on for some time without starting the car?

It hasnt done it again since has it?

It could also be that it has set the speed warning, which is done by pressing the button in at the set speed and the system then beeps when you exceed that speed.
This is most likely what happened.

Hi,

Pressing the clock set button in after the ignition has been turned on activates what I assume is a type of 'self test' for the warnings and alarms in the DIS, as you have described. It's normal, but I'm not exactly sure of it's function, perhaps just to familiarise the driver with the different alarms? To test it again, just put the ignition on and press the clock button. :)

Regards,

Matt.

Didn't know it had speed preset, the self test sounds about right. I'm in the petrol today, daughter has the TDI so will check later - thanks to both.

Today I...
... am driving to the A2 Hospital, in Milton Keynes for my car to have surgery. It's got a very leaky turbo and it needs replacement. And hopefully some of the arthritic creaks and rattles can be cured as well
