Today I.....

Sure, it is easier to link to an existing post

the bit you want is the second paragraph from the end. I’m sure the brake cable is better than my pipe cleaner but I didn’t have one to hand
PS today remembered that a cable tie is an excellent tool for clearing the roof drain channels.

Also on fridges

Read the piece in this month's Car Magazine following the contact made here on the forum by Ben Barry a few weeks back.

That might prompt a raise in demand . .

Anyone know why photos aren't showing is there a setting somewhere they used to be fine but the past week there's nothing

Are you using pictures icon to upload?

I find it easier with new website to upload pictures. If you are then I’m sure mods will come along to assist.

I can see some photos I uploaded that way to the 1.4 petrol spotted thread on page 33. Can you see them?

But I can't get the photos in this thread to display anymore. And Google Images doesn't update the cached low-resolution version it has of one of them with the full resolution shot when you click on it. In this case it's quite an old post, think it's from a now ex-member.

So I wonder if it's something to do with GDPR ... the new bogeyman of our times!

So started to get the car onto Axel stands to do both a clean up ready for refurbished calipers plus get drivers side sill replaced.

That's until I some how stupidly managed to make the car jump the stands when I was jacking up the last wheel at the ns front.

Car lurched 3 feet to the left at the back and 3 to the right on the front and all I could do was sit back and enjoy the show.

Carefully managed to lift the car back up and put wheels back on one at a time.

Believe it or not the only causality was my trusty old Halfords axel stand and my trousers...

For sure I'd welcome some advise on where I went wrong...I used triangular pieces of wood on my bigger axel stands (costco 3 tonne ones) on the back so they would sit as flat as possible on the rear axle...and this looks to have failed. The surface isnt flat it seems!

For sure this could have been a whole lot worse.

Thank god your ok mate
A pirouette A2 does not sound good
I always put the axle stands on the rear 4 point lifting points with wood to protect the bodywork. Then jack up the front and place front set of axle stands under the front 4 point lifting points

Thankfully you and your car are both okay. As you’ve said this could have been a lot worse of a post

I can see photos from both of your links.
I’m using an iPhone, so perhaps it is an android issue?

Just seen a picture of a very very rare 1.6FSI, the first for me. What makes this 1.6FSI so special? It has its decimal point.

Ha ha - my decimal point is around somewhere keep meaning to look for it and stick it back on and I thought I was the only one!

Had cruise control fitted by Tom (Timmus) yesterday THANKS Tom. Great service by a great bloke at a fair price. Used it all the way home down the M5 and A38 back to Cornwall yesterday and also used it today on the way into work into Devonport dockyard. Well worth the cost as it makes it easier to drive as the standard pedal positions feel slightly weird to me as it strains the outside of my right leg using the accelerator.

I still need to get CC fitted, may I ask what he charged? if it's not too expensive i would love to get him to do it. i've already got the loom and stalk, just lack confidence and VCDS...

Tom is currently with me in Staines and may well be able to come to you perhaps Saturday? If you message him perhaps he can sort out a brief visit?
